I made an effort to drive out this absurd thought which, I assure you, was not of the disturbing nature of a presentiment. No! just a combination of ideas. I made an effort, I tell you, but I soon realized that this thought had not come alone: however that I was trying to remove it from me, all kinds of other thoughts which were like the consequences of the first assailed me with order, with the logic of a well concerted attack.
